You know what, if you ever thought about an acting career, I think you should read Michael Shurtleff's AUDITION. It's not a one-stop-shop, but just about everything in there that he talks about is useful to amateurs and working pros. I go back to it a lot to remind myself of what I'm supposed to be doing in an audition, a rehearsal or a performance.
Speaking of, next Wednesday the Contemporary American Theater Festival kicks off it's 18th season and I'm in The Overwhelming with Lee Sellers, Michael Goodwin and a bunch of very talented folks. There's a great chemistry across the board and I think that people are going to be very excited to see what we do up there. The 2008 Season in general is packed with five shows that will play to just about every emotion or attitude in the house, and it'll definitely be something to talk about when these stories are shared with everyone that comes to take part in them.
At the same time, managing a personal relationship that runs parallel with my career is still, and always will be, a balancing act. I don't think there's any one answer to how to love someone except to have only one expectation: that you'll love and be loved in return. And in order to create a relationship you have to be emotionally committed. Otherwise, why are you even in the room?
